The Polypipe Smart Blue-Green Roof, from Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation, stores rainwater in an attenuation layer beneath the planted surface instead of draining it away. Passive irrigation components draw the stored water up to the green-roof substrate. A 525 m² version was retrofitted to Bruntwood Works' Bloc building as a two-year research project.
