States 28 years earlier Swiss cooperator Peter Iseli obtained funding to make Altiplano more habitable and developed walipinis at a farm in El Alto near La Paz. Says Iseli died of heart attack with almost nothing written; structures left half-ruined until Michael Gemio bought and rebuilt them with villagers who had worked with "el suizo". Credits Héctor Vélez as agronomist directing Ventilla from the start; farm now has >18 productive walipinis growing chard, spinach, lettuce and aromatic plants.
